FAQs
How does therapy work?
Therapy is personalized and the process can differ based on what you’re experiencing. Depending on your needs, therapy can be short-term, or long-term. I use an integrative approach to nurture a safe and authentic connection that will foster your true essence. Together we will heal emotional wounds, achieve clarity, and make meaning of your life.
I’ve never done therapy. What should I expect?
For individual therapy, your first session will be an intake session where we will go over the logistics of the therapeutic process (policies, consent, privacy practice, payment, etc), gather background information about you, explore the reason(s) for seeking therapy, and your goals. For couples therapy, the first three sessions are considered part of intake assessment. I will see the couple together for the first session, while the next two sessions will be individual sessions with each person. Following the intake assessment process, all sessions will be together as a couple.
At times, I may give you tasks, challenges, or an area to focus on during the week.
I meet with the majority of my clients on a weekly basis. I ask that all new clients commit to meeting weekly, for at-least the first 6 weeks. This will allow us to start off on a strong foot, so you can start seeing progress right away. I may recommend that we increase or decrease the frequency of sessions to best meet your needs.
Do you take insurance?
I am considered an out-of-network provider for insurance companies. Some insurance companies may reimburse you for a portion of the session if you have out-of-network benefits. Please check with your insurance company regarding your benefits. You will be responsible for payment at each session and will receive a monthly superbill for your insurance claim and reimbursements.
How do I find out if I have out-of-network benefits?
Your out-of-network benefits are usually listed in the Summary of Benefits information on your insurance company’s website. It’s always a good idea to call the number on the back of your health insurance card listed under Member Services.
How long are the sessions?
Individual sessions are 45 minutes, and couples’ sessions are 50 minutes.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I take all major credit cards as well as FSA and HSA cards.
What is the cancellation policy?
I value your time and reserve your session time exclusively for you. I have a 48-hour cancellation policy at no cost to you. If you cancel the session after 48 hours, you will be responsible for full payment. Please feel free to cancel your session 48 hours in advance via the client portal, or by emailing me.
